Meet teens across the valley and share your interesting within the diverse group of teens. Help organize community events and bring your dreams to life in creative workshops and thrilling activities. Get moving and join the fun today!!!

Over the summer at Ironwood library, teens banned together for the first ever Twilight "Eclipse" after hours party. This was a free event for teens between the ages of 12-18, but one had to sign up on the guest list. The event included door prizes, refreshments, as well as music from the national indies touring band, "The Cullens".

Mesquite Library Teen Council sponsored Boo! at the Library on Thursday October 28, 2010.

Teens came in costume to volunteer to read stories to children (wow that was popular!), make a cat collage craft, play Seal Ring Toss game, parade through the Library in costumes not once but twice!, and purchased treats so every child could choose a treat to take home with them. Although it was a hot day here in the Valley of the Sun, the cool teens of Laveen meet this day of, August 25, 2010 in their first LTC meeting. New faces showed up, hundreds of cool ideas pop-out as the teens shared their thoughts and ideas to make the Cesar Chavez library shine in the Valley of the Sun.

The teens discussed great ideas for the upcoming Teen Read Month (silk screen t-shirt, game truck, and book signing of the famous author Lisa McMann) and fundraising.

1. Eat pizza, chips, and drink soda.
2. Play Wii sports.

6. And best of all...(you're gonna love this) have contests seeing who can case DVD's faster. Yup.

I really enjoyed being a volunteer at Cesar Chavez. The staff is nice and are very comprehensive and the parties are really good. I would recommend that people that like helping others should come and help kids getting them excited about reading and joining the reading programs that they have and just like they taught us "Reading is the best prize of all"

At ExpressIT!, we played a game of Clue, and the winner got to choose a unreleased book. We also had a Wii set up and played "Super Mario". Then, everyone signed up for the Teen Reading Program and got prizes from Harkins for registering.

Later at Library Teen Council, we discussed purchasing earphones for the library computers and programs for the kids and teens, along with snacks to sell and to eat. If any of this sounds even remotely interesting, come visit us at our next meeting on July 10!

Well hello fellow blog readers i am here to inform you about the new library hours at harmon library the reason why we are having new library hours are because of the low budget cuts and it is going to be hard because we had new library hours changed twice and i dont understand why but hey i doint understand why they are doing this but its not my decision and i cant do nothing about it.

New Library Hours Listed Below:

Monday-Sunday: we are closed
Tuesday,wednesday,& thursday-11 a.m.-7 p.m.
Friday&Saturday-9 a.m-5 p.m.

Mesquite Teens December 5, 2009

At our December Teen Council meeting, we took part in the holiday spirit by making popcorn decorations to add a happy feeling. While we did this, our members and Teen Coordinator took part in sharing a chain story. This type of story is when someone starts a story, but then everyone else adds to it as their turn comes. Our first story involved something very silly such as a family stuck in a time-warp because their great great great great great grandfather choked on a ping-pong ball. We got through two of these chain stories before we had to go. Maybe we'll post them someday.

(All but one of our needles broke while we were stringing popcorn and glitter popcorn, or else we would have strung a lot more!!!!)

Mesquite Teen Council met Wednesday October 28 in costume! to provide games for the youngest Library customers. Some of the offerings were: Boo! Bowling, Find the pink spider in the web (if you dare), Pass the pumpkin bear, Listen to a Story, Pumpkin Collage and get a "treat" on your way out the door. Oh! and don't forget "Bounce the Eyeball"! Children (and adults too) had a great time. Teens had pizza after all their hard work (and play)

well hello all you blog readers you might wonder why i am writing this message its because i am urging you guys to come on down and check out the NEW HARMON LIBRARY that was open on september 12,209 it is a magnificent building it has more computers and more space and al0t much more that this library has to offer.but the library has not changed there hours or there librarians they have all new equipment and a magnificent check out system they have all new dvd's and cd's so i just wrote this blog to tell you to come and checkout the new harmon library and last but not least there will be more blogs headed your way so check it out and bye

Wow. It's here already. Our grand opening at the newly remodeled Harmon Library is tomorrow Saturday September 12 , 2009 from 8-5. There will be a variety of entertainment: face painting, music, food , and much much more!!! Our Cesar Chavez Teen Council will be there to assist. Yay!We cant wait till tomorrow and to see you there!

Today on Friday August 28, 2009 at the Teen fun @ the new Harmon Library 27 teens showed up. There was a lot of games (Guitar Hero, Wii, Computers, food, and lots of fun).

Yesterday was great turn out as the Wimpy Kid Dairy: Dog Days ice cream truck visited Cesar Chavez Library. We want to thank everyone who made it possible in cluding Ms. Dellis our Children's Librarian for organizing it . We all enjoyed a frozen treat while we got to relax by coloring and being creative.We aslo had a quiz that showed how much wimpy you have in you! We had about 175 people show up. Each child got a frozen treat. We also had some die hard fans show up. Once again, what a great time we had.

Hey peeps, this is Kasey speaking on behalf of the Mesquite LTC. Today, we created origami stuff. (For lack of a better word.) While my creations were less than amazing, most of them turned out exceptionally well. Among the creatures made were fish, horse, swans, hummingbirds, & penguins. We also played Mario Cart for Wii during our downtime.

We also took a quiz about if we are Thinkers or Feelers concerning our decision making process. The group was pretty much even, half and half.

And in case you ever visit the Mesquite branch, we have decided to buy a new computer for the Teen section of our library, as well as a new fridge for the teen snack stocking project.

On Tuesday, July 28, 2009 Cesar Chavez LTC had a great time at our Teen Council/Volunteer Summer Wrap Up Party. We had a great turn out, with over 15 Teens showing up. We celebrated by eating Pizza, playing Guitar Hero, Dance Dance Revolution, board games, and much more. A guest appearance by Book Breath was enjoyed as he Demonstrated the Cupid Shuffle. We want to thank the Friends Of the Phoenix Public Library and our Teen Librarian Ms. Rosie for making this possible for Teen Council!!

Dear World:

Today we played with glitter glue. Only three people took advantage of our vast crafty resources today. Oh well, we still had fun.

During Teen Council, we not only devoured all the sugary goodness in the food basket, but we also discussed important financial matters-- but if we told you about them, we would have to show you what ELSE we could do with glitter glue. :) So shhh!
